Invoice delays reduced by 8 days. Bench reports available in real-time. 30% time saved for Project Owners.

These aren't aspirational targets they're the tangible results from our latest internal transformation. At Tekdi, we believe in catalysing societal transformation through technology, but we realized transformation had to start from within. How could we democratize AI for others if we hadn't fully embraced it ourselves?

The Challenge: When Operations Lag Behind Vision

Our internal operations—Team Allocation, Project Revenue, Future Budgeting, and Deal Profitability—lived in a familiar place: interconnected Google Sheets. While functional, this created friction that slowed our ability to serve clients effectively.

The reality we faced:
  • Multiple sources of truth leading to data inconsistencies
  • Bench reports perpetually 3-4 days behind reality
  • Management dependency on ops team for basic insights
  • Time spent on data wrestling instead of client value creation

We knew change was needed. Rather than adopting generic market solutions, we chose to build tools that reflected our values—creating something that could work for the most, not just the few within our organization.

Our Approach: Thinking AI-First

We didn't just want to digitize existing processes; we wanted to experience the magic of creation while pioneering what we call an "AI-first" development approach. By AI-first, we mean architecting solutions where AI is foundational from the start, not retrofitted as an enhancement.

Our methodology:

1. Collaborative Requirements with Gemini & ChatGPT

Traditional BRD creation often happens in isolation. We used AI as thought partners—feeding raw requirements to Gemini and ChatGPT, generating comprehensive requirement views, identifying edge cases, and exploring UI/UX possibilities we hadn't considered.

2. Accelerated Development with Cursor AI

For implementation, Cursor AI allowed us to generate consistent boilerplate, maintain coding patterns, and iterate rapidly on business logic while preserving our architectural standards.

3. Product-First Architecture

We solved the "multiple sources of truth" challenge by integrating everything with Redmine, our project management system. All four applications communicate with the Redmine database in real-time, creating a unified data foundation.

The Results: Speed with Substance

The transformation exceeded our expectations in both development velocity and operational impact.

Development Acceleration:

  • Requirements phase: From 2–3 weeks to 3–4 days with higher clarity and detail
  • Development phase: From 8–10 weeks to 4–6 weeks delivery

Operational Transformation:

  • Real-time visibility: Bench reports now update instantly, eliminating the 4-day lag Faster cash flow: Invoice generation accelerated by 5-8 days Data integrity: Manual entry errors reduced, achieving 90% accuracy Team efficiency: Project Owners save 30% on update tasks; Senior Management gained 20-40% better data visibility

Why Product-First Thinking Matters Internally

Even though these tools serve our internal needs with no external launch planned, we approached them with our core Product-First mindset. We didn't build scripts—we created sustainable architecture that solves problems for everyone in our organization, not just a few power users.

This internal transformation directly impacts our client work. When our team spends 30% less time on administrative tasks, that capacity flows to what matters most—delivering transformative solutions for our clients across Samaaj, Sarkar, and Bazaar.

Sharing Our Learnings

These results surprised even us. What started as solving our own operational challenges became a proof of concept for the AI-assisted development approach we now bring to client work.

The key insight: AI-first development isn't just about writing code faster—it's about solving problems faster, with better collaboration between human creativity and AI capability.

We're sharing these specific timelines and outcomes because we believe in giving back to the community. The techniques we've refined internally are now helping our clients accelerate their own digital transformations.

Have you experimented with AI-first approaches in your development work? We'd love to hear about your experiences and challenges. The more we share learnings across the community, the faster we can all navigate this rapidly evolving landscape.
